WHEREAS the mandatory long form census has served Canada well by providing accurate statistical data which has been used to plan for future growth and development at all levels of society and governments in Canada;
WHEREAS Canadian citizens have completed the mandatory long form census with minimal complaint;
WHEREAS the mandatory long form census has been and continues to be a valuable source of historical information for historians, genealogists, geographers, medical researchers etc.;
WHEREAS the cancellation of the mandatory long form census will place in jeopardy the accuracy and reliability of the data collected thereby placing the reports prepared by Statistics Canada in doubt and damaging its international reputation;
BE IT RESOLVED that the Liberal Party of Canada encourage the Government of Canada to reinstate the mandatory long form census;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Liberal Party of Canada encourage the Government of Canada to remove the threat of a jail sentence against individuals who refuse to complete the long from census and instead impose a fine.

Essential to reinstate the Long Form Census. Details slip away into oblivion if they are nor recorded and examined.Difficult to carry out research accurately if large portions of detail are not collected.
