Liberal friends,

For three days in January, we will come together in Ottawa to make history. And I want you to be part of it.

Before the weekend is over, thousands of us will debate and decide upon the big questions facing our Party. What changes must we make to our structure as an organization? How, through the policy resolutions we adopt, will we define ourselves and communicate who we are to Canadians? And who will we choose as table officers to lead our Party organization during this critical period?

These are fundamental questions and the answers we choose will ultimately shape the future of the Liberal Party of Canada and the future of our country.

Like many Liberals I spoke to across Canada this summer, I believe we are equal to the challenge.

Canadians are counting on us to fight for Liberal values and to champion the cause of growth and prosperity.  And they are calling on us to put forward a vision for our country that offers all Canadians hope for a prosperous future, and a sense of pride in what we can offer the world.

This is why we need you in Ottawa this January. As a delegate, your vote will carry the same weight as mine. Your passion will inspire your fellow delegates to make the bold choices, when courage is called for. And your experience on the convention floor will energize your fellow Liberals when you return home.

If we are true to our best ideals, and apply these ideals to our best efforts, we shall succeed. I am committed to doing what I can to help us get there.
